Manuel Díaz Baños

MDB Legal is a boutique civil and commercial litigation, arbitration and mediation firm founded by Manuel Díaz Baños, lawyer, independent arbitrator and mediator.

After almost two decades of experience as a lawyer in the litigation and arbitration area of Cuatrecasas, the creation of MDB Legal has allowed Manuel to orient his professional practice to offer individualized legal advice with full dedication to each client and matter, in addition to developing his professional practice as an arbitrator, mediator and teacher.

Manuel's profile is that of a rigorous, practical and business-oriented professional, in which his creativity, negotiation skills, ability to deal with complex problems, executive decision-making and emotional intelligence stand out.

Professional Experience

Throughout his professional career, Manuel has represented clients in more than 100 civil and commercial legal proceedings before the courts and tribunals of Spain, at all levels, which gives him extensive experience leading all types of legal proceedings.

In addition, he has represented clients in more than thirty arbitration and mediation proceedings before the main Spanish and international courts and institutions (CAM, CIMA, CEA, ICC, LCIA, among others). Manuel has reinforced this practice thanks to his experience acting also as arbitrator, mediator and administrator of mediation proceedings, which allows him to have a holistic and transversal vision of them.

Manuel's areas of specialization include collaboration contracts between businessmen (agency, distribution, franchising, intermediation, supply), unfair competition and new technologies law, especially in matters related to the right to honor and new digital platforms. All this has led him to acquire extensive experience coordinating his actions with other areas of law, such as labor, criminal and commercial law.

Throughout his professional career, Manuel has developed a vast experience coordinating all types of cross-border proceedings, both in arbitration and judicial proceedings, including a large number of cases involving sovereign states. His experience covers jurisdictions such as Germany, Italy, France, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Portugal, Denmark, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Peru, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Panama, USA, China, India, Japan, United Arab Emirates and Equatorial Guinea, among others.

With a deep knowledge of International Private Law, he also has extensive experience in judicial proceedings for the recognition of foreign judgments and arbitral awards in our jurisdiction.

Lastly, Manuel is highly specialized in enforcement proceedings, including the enforcement of judgments, the investigation of assets and the attachment of liens. This has allowed him to successfully advise many clients in the monetization of judicial and arbitral resolutions favorable to their interests; as well as to design effective defense strategies against the enforcement of unfavorable resolutions.

Guillermo Palomar Miñones

Guillermo Palomar has experience in commercial, national and international litigation and arbitration, as well as in asylum law. He has experience as an arbitral tribunal secretary. After two and a half years in the litigation and arbitration area of Cuatrecasas, Guillermo joined the international protection team of the UNHCR office for the Nordic and Baltic countries. He is also co-founder of the legal advice platform ESxUKR. He holds a Master's degree in Law from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, a degree in Law and Economics from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, complementing his studies at the University of New South Wales (Australia), Maastricht University (Netherlands) and the London School of Economics (United Kingdom). He has also participated in two editions of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition with the teams of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and has served as an arbitrator in the Jessup and Madrid Vis Pre-Moot on several occasions.

Guillermo works in Spanish, English, French and Catalan.

Gala María Luis Lazo

Gala Luis prepared for the competitive examinations to obtain the title of notary public, subsequently studying for the master's degree in Access to the Practice of Law at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas ICAI-ICADE. Previously, he graduated simultaneously in Law and Criminology from the University of Salamanca and the UNED. He has also actively participated in debate and public speaking associations, complementing his training with courses in Private Law.

David Paramio

David Paramio has completed the Master's Degree in Access to the Practice of Law, specializing in Business Law, at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas ICAI-ICADE.

Previously, David graduated in Law from the University of Valladolid, studies that he completed in June 2022. During this time he has combined his university studies with his professional development, acquiring experience in civil and commercial litigation.
